The smaller sized cans are nice to be able to add a little protein in to a dish and not worry about having part of it left in the fridge. We bought this for food storage, so wanted to try it out before stocking up on it. The can is very large..as large as the BIG can of Pork n Beans. When I opened the can, all the fat was on the top....easy to skim off. There was 1/2 cup fat and it could be used for cooking grease or greasing a pan, if needed. We did not use, discarded. There was about 1/2 cup of "meat juice" in the can, the rest was all lean meat. The meat was appetizing in appearance and smell. I used this beef in a strogonaoff recipe, and it was delicious! It made way more than my family of 2 could eat. My guess, it'd serve 4 easily. The beef inside was lean, tender and tasty! Reminded me of when I was a child and mom canned beef chunks from our own cattle. I wish it was available in 12-16 oz cans, but we will certainly be buying more! Next time, I will plan to save 1/2 the can for a second meal. I believe this beef would also be good eaten cold, if heat was unavailable in a pinch, so will also put in... I would be at a loss without it. Perfect slicing always, and turn around the slices and you you get diced. Tried to slice onions and broke my original. Never going to do that again. Another use is slicing and dicing tofu and canned mushrooms . I usually add tofu and mushrooms to my hamburger paddies. This review is from: MIU France Stainless Steel Lunch Meat Slicer (Kitchen) I bought this primarily for using with canned luncheon meats, which I found to be just barely able to cut it. This is just an over sized flat egg slicer, but the beauty of this is it's versatility. I use this to cut tofu, bananas, and pretty much anything that has the texture of a boiled egg. I wish this used actual blades instead of strings so that it can be used with more stuff, but as it is, it does one hell of job letting me make peanut butter banana sandwiches faster :) As far as build quality, I'm guessing this will last me a few years. Cutting luncheon meat with this is a bit of a chore, since the luncheon meat is too dense for it to cut cleanly. It pretty much cuts the luncheon meat the same way you'd see if you would've used a fork.
